It’s been a frustrating week trying to solve the latest photographer conundrum…”what kind of photographer am I?!”  I genuinely have no idea.  I mean, I have always wanted to become a photo journalist working for the Rolling Stones or Nat Geo.  I even tried my hand in fashion photography.

So this past week I’ve been annoying your mom by making her listen to me whine about my insecurities surrounding my photography.  Her advice?  She basically said to stop whining like a bitch and to remind myself why I started doing it in the first place.  Your mom has a way with candor, but ultimately she was right.

I also talked to another close photographer friend of mine.  I asked him if this was common for new photographers, his reply?  To keep shooting what you love, and eventually it will come to you, but the most important advice was to find your own style.

Eventually the journey lead me to Katherine Wolkoff's collection on art+commerce to find the answer.  There was a certain innocence in her work that was genuine… and I picked up that vibe immediately.

Then it hit me.  I’ve been so focused learning everything there is to know about photography that I’ve forgotten about the one thing that was most important to me… the ability to feel.  I realize that feeling comes so easy when we’re together because the sight of you alone, makes me forget about all my stress and worries that clouds my ability to see the things we take for granted.
