I grew up in a household that didn’t place a lot of value in communication, as a result none of us learned how to express feelings and opinions effectively. I don’t know if it’s a Filipino thing, or maybe it’s an ‘every family’ thing. But what ever the reason, it was a habit that was evident in my family’s history. Because of that, over the years I have learned to put effective communication very high on my list of essential qualities.
Although I was hellbent on avoiding the same mistakes when it came to my own family, I still manage to struggle with it every now and then. It doesn’t happen often, but once in awhile it will happen between me and your mother. What can I say? It’s inevitable.
So I learned that sometimes it’s more effective to have someone pass on those messages for you… and who better can serve as a proxy in this circumstance than Barry White. So honey if you’re reading this. I want you to know that I love you just the way you are.
Take it away Barry….

Your First Day of School.
Your Mom and I dropped you off at preschool for the first time today. I’m still in disbelief that its happening so quickly. You were pretty good about your first day at school. You showed a little shyness, but you warmed up pretty quickly. I was so proud of you today. My lil’girl getting ready to get her ‘learn’ on.
